Youth Ministries

The Le Mars Church of the Nazarene was started back in 1931 when five area church youth groups worked together to hold a tent revival. Several dozen people dedicated their lives to Christ and worked to start what would become LCN! Youth ministry is at our roots, and is a high priority for us.

Teens gather outside eating breakfast, after attending our National Day of Prayer service, put on in partnership with the Le Mars Area Youth Network & Le Mars National Day of Prayer Committee

We value being a place where developing young adults can feel safe and welcomed; where they can build healthy relationships with peers and adults that can help them navigate a very confusing season of life.

Youth Bible Study – We provide weekly bible study and connection through our Sunday morning program at 9:30am.

Youth Group Gatherings – We partner with Youth For Christ in providing MS and HS programs to learn biblical truths throughout the week. HS meet on Monday nights throughout the school year at the City Life Teen Center. MS students meet on Wednesday mornings as early as 7:15 in the MS gym.

Youth Events and Trips – We coordinate a local Youth Network program that provides outings and events for area MS and HS students including trips to a near by corn maze, ice skating, and more. Groups such as Real Encounter Outreach and The Power Team have been brought to Le Mars to hold school assemblies and concerts/exhibitions for teens and their families.

Church Lunch – During the school year we open our facilities every Wednesday to provide free lunches to HS students that are permitted to leave campus over their lunch break; giving them a safe place off campus to relax, de-stress, and connect with caring adults who can provide homework help, insight, and guidance.

Hot Chocolate Fridays – Every Friday from November through February we open our doors from 7:30 am to 8:20 am for adults, high school students, and middle school students who pass by our building to get a free cup of hot chocolate (or coffee) and breakfast foods; to bless their Fridays and help them know that we care.Approximately 20% of the student body takes advantage of this program, many of whom do not have adequate nutrition at home.

Nazarene Youth Conference (NYC)- Every four years the Church of the Nazarene hosts a regional USA/Canada youth conference gathering teens from across North America and around the world for an intense spiritual experience with some of the best speakers, musicians, and artists in the Christian world. We coordinate with sister churches across Iowa to get as many of our teens in on this experience as possible. NYC happens next in the summer of 2019. Check out the official NYC website here.
